OUR FOUNDERS

Professor Ahmad Hasan Dani (1920–2009) was a distinguished Pakistani archaeologist, historian, and linguist who pioneered archaeology as an academic discipline in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He contributed significantly to the study of Moenjodaro, Gandhara, and Taxila, and founded both the Islamabad Museum and the Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations. Fluent in many languages, he authored over 45 books on South and Central Asian civilizations. Dani was a strong advocate for heritage conservation and received major international honors, including France’s Legion of Honour and UNESCO’s Aristotle Silver Medal. His interdisciplinary work left a lasting legacy in archaeology and history.
